Grandfatherhood and Perspective

Well hello!
It has been a long time since I have seen you all!  Ok I have not written for eons -  it seems.  Since March to be exact.  So, what has happened?  Tons.  but the biggest news?  Well, two things have really shaped our lives recently.  I am a Grandad.  Yep.  A grizzled, gray haired, grateful, gleestruck, glorious, Grandpa.

Joshua Aaron Perry was born August 2, 2008.  He came into the world at 7 lbs. 14 oz. and at a lengthy 20 inches.  Mom, Sarah and Dad Steven are doing great!  I wonder what the future holds for him?  No one knows.  But God.

Also, my son David has enlisted in the Air Force.  I am so proud of him and his wife Beth and both are doing really great.  He will be graduating from Basic Training on Friday, August 15 in San Antonio.

So, heres the Point!  Life is not a picture.  It is a movie.  It is an epic movie and it sweeps in panorama through the breadth of our lives.  God is the Producer, Director and the Star.  We are just the supporting cast.  Our role; be it Dad, Grandpa, Husband, Wife, Friend, Co-worker, Son or Daughter, is to the be the best supporting actor.  We are here to serve the STAR!  The King.  The One everybody is looking for.  So whatever your station, roll out the Red Carpet.  Keep your eyes peeled.  Be ready to give honor, glory, and praise to the one who truly deserves it!

God Bless all Grandparents that really want to be GRANDPARENTS! -- Especially you. May all of your grandchildren have strong stomachs to allow good laughter, as you teach with a light spirit that reaches our children and youth! You have inspiried my children at school: my soured adopted daughter that was confused; my nephew (foster son) that was a 'throw away' child; my second adopted daughter, after my first jusband died and she had a real 'deserted feeling'; my step-son after his mom died and he felt 'empty'. You brought joy into all of these youngster's lives that they will never forget! God Bless You! God did bless whatever Grandchildren He has given thus far, and those He has in waiting!
